A primary school in Cape Town is providing counselling support after a disturbing incident in which a learner allegedly compiled a ‘hit list’ naming fellow pupils as targets.
The list, reportedly discovered on 13 March, has caused widespread concern among parents. According to reports by Smile FM News, some children have been left traumatised and fearful, with several reluctant to return to school.
The situation has been further complicated by additional allegations that surfaced after the discovery of the list.
These include claims of inappropriate behaviour and that some pupils were shown images of firearms, intensifying anxiety within the school community.
School authorities acted swiftly after the incident came to light, escalating the matter to the principal and counselling staff.
Daily Voice reported that the Western Cape Education Department has confirmed that an internal investigation is currently underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the allegations.
In the meantime, counselling and psychosocial support services have been made available to affected learners. The pupil at the centre of the allegations is not currently attending school while investigations continue.
