Well-known Cape Town criminal attorney William Booth was shot at in his garage in Higgovale this morning, April 9. The attack is believed to be an attempted murder.

“The circumstances surrounding an attempted murder are under police investigation following an incident at the Higgovale residence of a lawyer this morning around 7.30am,” police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut told TimesLIVE. “Two armed suspects wearing surgical masks fired shots at the victim but failed in their attempt and fortunately missed. They fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.”

Booth is unharmed, and police are on the scene investigating.

He is a prominent criminal attorney and has been involved in many high-profile cases. He has represented alleged underworld figures Mark Lifman and Andre Naude, arch-rivals in the dangerous nightclub security industry. He represented the San Souci teacher who was filmed slapping a student, and was involved in the Fiona Viotti case too.
