The Women’s T20 World Cup came to a close on Sunday, 20 October with the South African team’s loss to New Zealand by 32 runs. The efforts of the team however have since been widely applauded.
Mr Joe McGluwa, the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture, saluted the dedication of the Proteas Women throughout the World Cup which took place in Dubai this month, Cape {town} Etc reports.

As he congratulated the team on the committee’s behalf, he addressed the opportunity that they now have to unlock their untapped potential for big wins in the future.
‘With every participation in global events, our women show unbelievable growth. Reaching a consecutive final of this tournament was a victory on its own, and it is something we should be proud of as a nation’ said McGluwa.
He further commended the success of other South African women’s teams across various sporting codes, describing it as ‘something to marvel.’
Specifically he highlighted, the Banyana Banyana team being reigning African Champions and the Springbok Women’s recent host of a successful five nations women tournament.
In a media statement issued to the public, McGluwa concluded that the commitment displayed by the Proteas Women team should serve as an inspiration and encourage young women of all races and backgrounds to choose cricket.
