Police fired stun grenades outside Milnerton High School this afternoon to disperse a group of EFF supporters demanding to speak to the principal.
According to Smile FM, the principal briefly addressed the crowd, explaining that he was not permitted to speak to them.
His response reportedly angered protesters, who then attempted to gain entry to the school grounds before being pushed back by police.
eNCA has also released footage of the protest, showing one demonstrator asserting their right to protest and demanding accountability for the police’s earlier actions.
The protest follows a viral video showing a bullying incident at the school earlier this week, which sparked widespread outrage and calls for accountability.
Milnerton Crime Watch Trust has advised motorists of road closures in the vicinity, including:
-
Pienaar Road and Broad Road
-
Pienaar Road and Lupin Crescent
-
Erica Road and Ascot Road
A large contingent of SAPS and metro police officers remains on the scene to monitor the situation. Residents are urged to avoid the area where possible.
As the investigation progresses, families and the wider community will watch closely for the outcome of the disciplinary hearing and the police probe.
