President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced on Monday, October 11, that November 1 will be a public holiday, the same date set for the local government election. According to Ramaphosa registered voters can now use this public holiday to exercise their democratic right by casting their votes.
A statement released by the presidency further stated that voters should also be reminded that they will only be able to cast their votes at the voting station in their areas or where they have registered themselves.
” In the event that voters may consider travel, they will not be able to transfer their votes to voting stations away from their designated wards,” the statement said.
