According to the non-profit organisation, rescuers and WCG Health and Wellness EMS paramedics abseiled 40 metres down a steep slope from Chapman’s Peak Drive to reach the woman.

‘She was assessed and treated before being placed into a rescue stretcher,’ explained WSAR.
‘Teams on the road used a rope hauling system, rigging ropes from the vehicles parked at the scene, to carefully raise the rescue team and stretchered patient back up to the road.’
During the rescue mission, City of Cape Town traffic officials marshalled traffic past the scene to ensure the rescuers’ safety on the narrow road.
A waiting ambulance received the woman when rescuers returned with the stretchered patient and transported her to a nearby hospital.
‘The incident was concluded shortly after 11 a.m.,’ added WSAR.

Also on Sunday morning, SANParks’ Sea, Air and Mountain Special Operations Rangers (SEAM Team) and Visitor Safety Rangers detained a suspect of an attempted robbery below Woodstock Cave on Tafelberg Road.
The suspect was detained following an eyewitness account, explained SANParks, who urged the victims of the incident to open a case at the Woodstock police station in order to properly charge and hold him over.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, the 55-year-old male was arrested for intimidation and is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect reportedly attempted to mugg four female runners and MTB bikers with a knife 55 metres from the boom on Tafelberg Road.
‘No criminal cases were registered by the four unknown ladies. However, an intimidation case was registered for investigation after a 62-year-old male was threatened by the suspect who allegedly tried to rob the four females.’ said Twigg.
On Saturday, Cape {town} Etc previously reported that a group of five hikers were mugged along Steenberg Plateau on the Silvermine hiking trail.
The group was held up by four teens with broken bottles and a firearm who stole a Garmin watch and another hiker’s belongings before fleeing the scene.
Since the case of robbery with a firearm was registered at Muizenberg police station, Twigg confirmed that all four 18-year-old suspects have been arrested and was expected to appear in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
