The Muizenberg Community Policing Forum has confirmed the arrest of a robbery suspect following a swift response by City of Cape Town Law Enforcement officers on Friday afternoon.
The arrest took place at around 3pm on 6 March 2026 while officers were patrolling along Muizenberg Main Road.
According to the CPF, officers noticed a man sprinting down the road while being chased by another individual and a dog, prompting them to immediately stop and investigate what was unfolding.
It soon emerged that the man had allegedly just robbed a woman beneath the Muizenberg subway that leads towards the well-known catwalk.
A witness at the scene pointed out the suspect to officers and indicated the direction in which the victim had fled after the incident.
One of the officers then ran in search of the complainant and located her close to the St James Tidal Pool.
When officers reached her, she was visibly shaken, crying and bleeding from her right hand after the suspect reportedly bit her during the robbery.
The woman was advised to make her way to Muizenberg South African Police Service so that a formal case could be opened and the suspect processed.
At the police station it was further indicated that the arrested individual could be connected to a number of robberies that have previously been reported along the Muizenberg catwalk.
The complainant later positively identified the man as the person responsible for robbing her.
The Muizenberg CPF praised the quick action taken by the City’s law enforcement officers, saying their alert response while on patrol led directly to the arrest.
The forum also reiterated its commitment to working alongside SAPS and other law enforcement partners to tackle gang-related violence and drug dealing in the Muizenberg policing precinct.
