The group carried a banner that read ‘Abolish the Jewish lobby’ and chanted slogans linked to Neo-Nazi groups.
The Guardian reports that Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said he had cancelled the visa because his behaviour did not reflect Australian values. ‘If you are on a visa you are a guest,’ Burke said, adding that the government must protect social cohesion.
At OR Tambo, Gruter resisted questions and accused reporters of putting his family at risk. He told journalists that he had been detained for six hours and argued the decision was unfair.

Civil society groups and Jewish community leaders welcomed the visa cancellation and called for stronger measures to curb hate-fuelled organisations. Security experts have warned that far-right recruitment is rising and urged vigilance.
Officials in Australia are reviewing laws and police handling of the Sydney rally. For now, Gruter is back in South Africa while debate continues about how democracies should respond to public displays of hate.
