The South African Navy is gearing up to welcome the public to the SA Navy Festival 2026, taking place at the Naval Base Simon’s Town over three days of action-packed activities.
Running from Friday, 17 April to Sunday, 19 April, the festival offers free entry, with gates open daily from 10am to 5pm, giving visitors a chance to experience life inside one of the country’s most important naval hubs.
Guests can look forward to stepping aboard selected vessels, including a Type 209 submarine, while guided tours provide a closer look at the inner workings of the fleet. The programme also features precision drills, live music from the SA Navy Band and demonstrations by specialised teams showcasing search and rescue as well as firefighting capabilities, as reported by Smile FM.
For those planning their trip, train services will be operating on Saturday and Sunday, offering a scenic journey from Cape Town to Simon’s Town, with return tickets priced at R20.

One of the standout highlights will take place on Saturday evening, when a gunnery exercise and pyrotechnics night firing is scheduled at the Lower North Battery from 4pm to 10:30pm, promising a dramatic display to round off the day’s events.
With a mix of education, entertainment and live demonstrations, the festival is set to draw crowds looking for a unique maritime experience.
