An amended flight schedule may operate for today, October 22 as South Africa Airways (SAA) has made the decision to recall an aircraft while it undertakes compliance verification in line with the South African Civil Aviation Authority’s (SACAA) requirements.

The aircraft has been recalled following an oversight inspection conducted by SACAA at SAA’s maintenance subsidiary, South African Airways Technical (SAAT).

As a result of this, some flights will operate later than usual and SAA has implemented its contingency plans to ensure business continuity.

Four domestic flights have been cancelled, and SAA has taken steps to combine flights and deploy bigger aircraft to accommodate affected passengers. Due to the quick thinking, the impact on customers will be reduced significantly but the impact on domestic flights for Tuesday, October 22 is as below:

SAA acknowledges that the SACAA inspection was in accordance with its regulations and a necessary exercise to ensure compliance and safety of passengers.

The airlines apologises for any inconvenience caused and will keep customers informed on an ongoing basis.
