Springbok flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu has committed his future to Cape Town after agreeing to a long-term contract extension that will see him remain with the Stormers until at least July 2029, a major boost for the franchise’s long-term vision, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The new deal is a significant win for Stormers Rugby at a time when elite South African talent continues to attract heavy interest from abroad, with Feinberg-Mngomezulu widely viewed as one of the most gifted young playmakers in the global game. Despite strong overseas attention, the 22-year-old has opted to continue his journey in the Cape, underlining both his belief in the Stormers project and his connection to the region.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s rise has been swift since bursting onto the scene as a teenager, making his Stormers debut at just 19 during a Vodacom United Rugby Championship quarter-final in 2022. From that moment, he has steadily grown into a player capable of influencing matches at the highest level, combining flair with maturity beyond his years.
A graduate of the Stormers Rugby system, his development has followed a carefully managed pathway, highlighted by captaining DHL Western Province U21 to a national title in 2023. That progression has become a key example of the franchise’s commitment to nurturing local talent and ensuring it thrives at senior level.
On the international stage, Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s impact has been equally impressive. He earned his first Springbok cap in 2024 and soon after received a nomination for World Rugby’s Men’s 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year, before being crowned SA Rugby Young Player of the Year. His momentum continued into 2025, where he was named Vodacom URC Player of the Season and voted MyPlayers’ Players’ Player of the Year, reflecting the respect he commands among his peers.
Renowned for his ability to break open defences, manage games and deliver under pressure, Feinberg-Mngomezulu offers a complete skillset that includes sharp distribution, a dangerous running threat and reliable goal-kicking. Off the field, his professionalism, work ethic and desire to keep improving have further strengthened his value to the Stormers setup.
With his future now secured, the Stormers have locked in a cornerstone of their plans heading toward 2029, ensuring that one of South African rugby’s brightest stars will continue to light up Cape Town for years to come.
