Safe My Mate teams responded quickly on Saturday when two separate incidents on the mountain required urgent help, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The first call came from Lion’s Head after a 50-year-old visitor from Scotland slipped while descending and could not walk. Rescuers from the Wilderness Search And Rescue (WSAR) network assessed and stabilised the patient before carrying her down using a terrain-taming stretcher wheel.
The operation ended shortly before 1pm.
As crews stood down, a second call came from Kloof Corner Ridge where a 28-year-old hiker fell about three metres after a strong gust dislodged his grip on a chain.

Teams assessed his injuries and escorted him safely from the trail, that incident concluded at 3:35pm.
WSAR praised hikers for calling the emergency number and for sensible decision-making. ‘Calling the emergency number as soon as they felt unsafe was the right decision,’ said WSAR spokesperson David Nel.
