The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) has called off its mass taxi strike planned for Wednesday.
This comes after taxi industry executives met with the Western Cape government and the City of Cape Town on Tuesday, according to Ryno Saaiers, general secretary of Santaco in the Western Cape.

As part of the shutdown, taxi drivers were told to park their cars at home or at a rank.
However, after talking with Premier Alan Winde, Cape Town Mayor Geordin-Hill Lewis, and the newly appointed MEC of Mobility, Ricardo Mackenzie, Santaco called off the stay-away.
