Ravensmead SAPS have sought the assistance of the public to help trace four unidentified suspects who unlawfully entered a business premises near Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) and fled with precious metals, in the early hours of Saturday, 25 January, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The precious metals have been estimated to be worth around R200 million.
Reports have indicated that the persons of interest illegally entered the premises by destroying the existing fence, according to a press statement issued by the SAPS.
All four suspects entered the cargo section of the business premises and found a set of keys, which was left unattended by security personnel.
Once they proceeded to open the vault, the suspects emerged with bags containing precious metals.
They wore balaclavas and had their hands covered with gloves, and soon fled the scene in an ‘undisclosed direction’.
The SAPS have stated that anyone who can shed light on the circumstances of this incident or who can assist with leads to trace and ‘ultimate arrest of the suspects’ can call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS app anonymously.
