SAPS Western Cape spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut said the arrest follows intelligence-led Anti-Gang Unit operations aimed at dismantling violent networks on the Cape Flats. ‘SAPS reiterates its firm and unwavering stance against gangsterism,’ said (Cape Argus).
Western Cape acting minister Tertuis Simmers described the court shooting as a direct challenge to the authority of the State and urged swift action by police and prosecutors to secure convictions. ‘These brazen attacks around a court precinct show disregard for human life and the rule of law,’ he said (GroupEditors).
The arrests form part of a wider policing strategy to remove illegal firearms and disrupt gang activity.
Investigations remain underway, and authorities have not ruled out further arrests. The police urged residents to share information to help investigations and protect their communities.
