The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued an ‘extremely hot and uncomfortable’ advisory for areas in the interior of the West Coast and Namakwa regions, as well as the majority of the Western Cape, for Tuesday, 21 January, and Wednesday, 22 January.
Daytime temperatures between 37°C and 42°C are expected during this time. In the City of Cape Town, temperatures are expected to reach between 34°C and 37°C on Wednesday, 22 January.
Citizens are therefore advised to take the necessary precautions, as these weather conditions can have ‘significant health impacts’ such as heatstroke, according to the SAWS.
