The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has advised South Africans to expect harsh weather in most parts of the country today, Cape {town} Etc reports.

SAWS warned of strong gusts of wind, heavy rain and an abrupt dip in temperatures.
According to SAWS, Gauteng, North West, Western Cape, Free State and areas of KwaZulu-Natal should expect severe weather, including heavy winds.
SAWS issued many impact-based warnings, asking South Africans to exercise caution.
Orange level 5
During the morning, damaging winds are forecast over the Garden Route and Central Karoo districts of the Western Cape, as well as the Karoo Hoogland municipality in the Northern Cape, potentially causing poor driving conditions and property damage.
Additionally, destructive waves and winds are expected, potentially disrupting ports and harbours between Cape Agulhas and Plettenberg Bay in the morning.
Yellow level 2
In the morning, damaging winds and waves are forecast between Hondeklip Bay and Cape Agulhas, causing isolated interruptions to ports and minor harbours.
Orange level 6
In the morning, heavy rain is likely to cause flooding of highways and villages in the Western Cape’s Cape Winelands and Overberg districts.
Yellow level 4
Disruptive rain is likely to cause flooding of highways and villages in the Garden Route District in the Western Cape.
Travelling
Major traffic arteries, including the N1 and N3 highways, are expected to be affected, with motorists advised to use caution on the road.
