Kraaifontein Crime Intelligence members discovered an illegal alcohol manufacturing plant in Uitzicht while on a mission to recover an unlicensed firearm, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The operation unfolded late at night on 27 January 2026, as officers, bolstered by the presence of Durbanville SAPS members, descended upon a premises on Antilope Street—a location believed to be linked to a person of interest associated with the unlicensed weapon.
At approximately 11:30pm, the police operation took a dramatic twist when they encountered two Congolese nationals, aged 23 and 24.
Upon entering the premises, they were met with extensive evidence of illegal activity: large quantities of alcohol and sophisticated manufacturing machinery were found stored in one of the rooms.
This unexpected discovery led to the immediate arrest of the two men for their roles in the illegal alcohol production.
Constable Ndakhe Gwala, a spokesperson for the police, confirmed the details of the operation. ‘Once charged, they will appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court,’ Gwala stated, indicating that both suspects will face legal consequences for their operations.
