The number of bank branches in South Africa offering smart ID and passport services is set to more than double, with the current 30 branches being expanded by an additional 34 in the near future, Cape {town} Etc reports.

According to MyBroadband, the Banking Association of South Africa (BASA) is finalising public-private partnership (PPP) agreements between banks and the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).
FNB plans to add 18 eHomeAffairs-enabled branches, bringing its total to 25, with a focus on provinces where it doesn’t currently offer services.
Absa has 12 branches ready for activation, while Nedbank confirmed expansion without details.
Discovery Bank will add four branches in Century City, Sea Point, Pretoria, and Umhlanga.
Standard Bank is taking a cautious approach, awaiting final PPP agreements before expanding.
