In a tragic start to the week, seven people died and 13 others were injured on Monday morning [October 26] when a minibus and a car were involved in a head-on collision.

According to Maxine Jordaan, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Department, Melkbosstrand Road is closed in both direction between the N7 and the Mamre road exit.

It is believed that there was a head-on collision between a Toyota Quantum minibus and a sedan. A total of 13 others have sustained multiple injuries as a result of the accident, and all role-players are reportedly on scene.

“The cause of the accident is under investigation by the South African Police Service,” she added.
