Police are investigating a shooting that took place in Gugulethu on Monday, November 2, in which seven people were killed and a further two sustained injuries.

According to reports by ENCA, Western Cape police came across the bodies of four men and three women in the NY 78 area of Gugulethu. The two other individuals who sustained injuries have since been taken to hospital for treatment.

“Preliminary reports indicate that three women and four men between the ages of 30 and 40 were shot and killed by unknown gunmen at NY 78 in Gugulethu. Two other victims were injured and taken to a medical facility,” said Western Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa to iOL.

Crime scene experts, along with Western Cape Organised Crime detectives, quickly arrived on the scene to locate any clues and evidence relating to the attack. The motives behind the incident are however still unknown and no arrests have been made yet.

“Details from the scene are still sketchy. An update will be provided in due course,” said Potelwa.
