The Simon’s Town community was shaken by multiple robberies, which took place at Kleinplaas Dam on Monday morning.

Six youths, who were allegedly armed with what are now believed to have been fake guns, robbed two separate groups of people who were walking near the dam.

Two women were strolling by the dam when they were threatened by the armed youths, who made off with their valuables.

Not too long after,  a group of six people was attacked while walking their dogs. The assailants allegedly threw stones at their dogs and stole their valuables as well.

It is still unclear what exactly the robbers made off with.

Local police went to the dam after the robberies were reported, but were unable to find the suspects. The victims made their way down to Simon’s Town police station to give their depositions.

The Simon’s Town Community Group is warning the town’s locals and visitors to be wary as the Kleinplaas Dam is not as safe as previously believed. Residents are warning also people not to hike to walk in the area.
