Green Point residents have hailed the smooth response of members of the SAPS after a vehicle, apparently connected to a crime in Camps Bay, was surrounded, stopped, searched and suspects arrested, by law enforcement yesterday afternoon.
While police have not responded to media enquiries, it is believed that two suspects were apprehended in what was described as ‘something out of an action movie’.
Eye witness, Shona Owen, said that she was collecting books for a charity drive when she noticed a commotion on the corner of Ben Nevis and High Level Roads shortly after 5pm.
“I had someone dropping off some books,” said the Green Point resident. “The next thing I knew the road was blocked off and there were police officers everywhere.”

“It was surreal and took me quite some time to calm down afterwards.”
Owen was full of compliments for law enforcement for their slick response, adding that the manner in which they handled the scene and situation was truly impressive.
“They really pulled off a smooth operation,” she said. “As I understand it, police were following up on a crime that was committed in Camps Bay earlier and then spotted the suspect’s vehicle in Sea Point.”
“They got out of their vehicles, guns drawn and had the suspects face down and under arrest in no time.”
“I don’t think it was the first time that these guys (the suspects) were arrested either. They seemed to know how to respond to the cops and gave their full cooperation.”
