Smash and grab tensions in Bonteheuwel and Langa grew after a video shared by Fight Against Crime showed a suspect hanging onto a moving vehicle in broad daylight, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The clip, posted on Facebook, is captioned: ‘Bonteheuwel/Langa: Smash and grab gone wrong after 2pm today‘.
In the footage, the suspect appears to lunge at the vehicle before grabbing on and keeping his balance as it moves forward.
The suspect hitches a ride on the N2, while the driver filming the incident passes the car and captures the suspect still attached to the moving vehicle.
The short video has now added another uneasy moment to the long-running Cape Flats conversation about road safety and opportunistic crime on the N2.
The post gives no further context on how the encounter began or how it ended. It does, however, place the suspect’s movements and the motorist’s perspective at the centre of the clip, giving viewers a close-up view of a risky street encounter.
Fight Against Crime shared the footage with the original caption, but no additional details were immediately provided. The clip quickly became another talking point across local social media feeds.
