As forecast earlier this week, the Western Cape received snow last night with residents in outlying towns waking up this morning to a few white-capped peaks.

Towns such as Beaufort West, which made headlines on Monday due to the Gamka Dam running dry, received snow, while closer to Cape Town, the Matroosberg range and Karoo National Park received light falls.
