The mystery Capetonian won the massive Lotto jackpot on Saturday.
National lottery operator, Ithuba, encouraged players to check their tickets, adding that the winning ticket was purchased at a Shoprite Checkers in Durbanville and played on draw number 2261, as reported by News 24.
“We congratulate the latest Lotto multimillionaire, who won Saturday’s jackpot of over R86 million. Although winning tickets may be valid for 365 days, it is highly recommended that players process their winnings as soon as possible,” says Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of Ithuba.
The winning numbers were: 07, 20, 34, 45, 49, 50, and Bonus: 17.

Players have also been urged to proceed to any National Lottery regional office to process their winnings. Winners receive their money, tax free, between 48 to 72 hours after claiming.
According to the Citizen, if you’ve bought that lucky Lotto or Powerball ticket via a banking apps, winnings will be deposited directly into our account if the total amount is less than R50,000.
Your bank will reach out telephonically if the winnings exceed R249,000. Anything more than that and you’ll have to visit the nearest Ithuba regional office to process the claim.
Don’t forget your identification document, the printed or digital records of your ticket, as well as your banking details. If everything is in order, you’ll receive the tax-free winnings within 72 hours.
Ithuba says it’s a shock to become wealthy overnight, therefore all winners who bag more than R50,000 are offered free financial assistance and trauma counselling.
