A man was wounded in a shooting incident that took place on Friday, 5 May, 2023, on the corner of Napier and Somerset Streets in Green Point, Cape Town.

According to reports, the victim was shot by unidentified assailants upon exiting his vehicle and subsequently fled into a nearby shopping centre. It is uncertain whether the shooting incident was linked to gang-related activity.
A video of the incident was posted on TikTok by @abdullahkjamjam, and the caption accompanying it read, ‘South Africa is a movie.’

South Africans voiced their sentiments by leaving the following comments:

- ‘And people are breaking out of prison and leaving a body and fleeing the country. SA is worthy of a Netflix series’
- ‘Haibo but I thought Greenpoint is upmarket and has a lot of security’
- ‘I stay two blocks away at the Guest house opposite the traffic department. Things are insane these days’
- ‘Come to the cape flats where it’s normal’
