Ah, just one more reason to love Black Coffee – no not the caffeinated brew – but South Africa’s superstar DJ.
We’re waving the South African flag a little higher after the DJ and producer sealed his status as the best of the best by winning his first-ever Grammy as he took to the stage to collect his award for the Best Dance/Electronic Music Album Grammy award last night.
Black Coffee snagged the award for his stellar album Subconsiously, accepting the award alongside his eldest son, Esona.

“I want to thank God for the gift of music and being able to share it with the world and heal souls and help people go through whatever they’re going through in life,” he shared during his acceptance speech.
The global sensation went on to thank his team, everyone who helped work on the album, and his fans.
“I want to thank my fans all over the world and people who follow what I do, thank you so much for believing in me. I want to thank my family and my children.”
Turning to his son, he said: “this is my first one [win] tonight. I have five more [children] at home. I am coming back with them.”
During his post-win interview, Black Coffee turned up the inspiration and gave a special mention to “the African kids who are watching who come from where I come from who think they don’t have a chance.”
