Social media posts said the action was linked to anger over anti-migrant operations in South Africa, with one update warning of ‘large queues’ as uncertainty grew.
There are warnings of possible disruptions at the Mozambique border on Monday, 4 May, with planned blockades expected at Ressano Garcia and Ponta do Ouro.
Reports claim South African trucks and non-Mozambican vehicles may be denied entry.

A circulated alert, seen in an image shared online, said only Mozambican vehicles would be allowed through and warned that people who did not speak the local language could be turned back.
The same alert claimed the action would target South African trucks at Ressano Garcia and Ponta do Ouro.
The timing matters for drivers, traders and families who rely on the Lebombo route, one of the busiest cross-border links in the region. Reuters has previously reported that disruptions at the crossing can quickly affect cargo movement between South Africa and Mozambique.
At the time of writing, the reports were still circulating online, and the situation remained fluid. Travellers were urged to monitor updates before heading to the border.
