The Cape of Goodhope (CoGH) SPCA is appealing to the public for donations to help care for four horses that were confiscated from a home on Monday, July 27.

“Anneline, Blackmore, Snappy Guy and Rocking at Night are now having their first proper meal in a long time,” the CoGH SPCA said. “These four malnourished horses were confiscated from their Be Free Equestrian home earlier today with a court order issued by the Atlantis Magistrates Court. A case of animal cruelty will also be opened with South African Police Services (SAPS).”

Unfortunately, three previous warnings requiring their owner to have them seen by a veterinarian fell on deaf ears, forcing the SPCA to intervene.

“Fearing for the wellbeing of these horses, we were left with no choice but to take them into our care,” the SPCA said. “Given their current condition, their journey to recovery is going to be a long and difficult one. Contributions towards their nutritional and veterinary needs are much needed and will be sincerely appreciated.”
