In a cheeky nod to Nando’s famed wit, FlySafair aimed at rival Emirates after the airline’s dramatic flyover at Cape Town’s DHL Stadium during the Springboks’ thrilling 18-12 victory over the All Blacks in the Rugby Championship Freedom Cup, Cape {town} Etc reports.

In a spontaneous, last-minute move, FlySafair surprised fans by announcing a flyover at the Springboks vs All Blacks showdown.
The Boeing B738 soared over Cape Town’s DHL Stadium moments after the South African and New Zealand national anthems reverberated through Greenpoint.
In contrast to last week’s Emirates flyover at Ellis Park—renamed Emirates Airline Park—FlySafair’s stunt took place right after the All Blacks performed their iconic Haka.
Sharing a cheeky meme of the spectacle, FlySafair proudly declared: ‘The world’s most on-time (and well-timed) airline.’
Earlier this week, SA Rugby issued an apology on behalf of Emirates, acknowledging the poor timing of their flyover, which interrupted the All Blacks’ traditional Haka.
In response, the New Zealand team graciously accepted the apology, humorously noting that they were too ‘in the zone’ to even notice.
While FlySafair made its flyover debut in Cape Town, Emirates also achieved a milestone with its first flyover at Ellis Park last week.
According to Aviation24, the low-level pass, flying at under 200 meters, marked three significant events: the return of Emirates’ second daily A380 service on the Dubai-Johannesburg route, the airline’s first A380 flypast in Africa, and its inaugural display of this kind in South Africa.
