Two Oceans Marathon queen Gerda Steyn delivered another standout chapter in Cape Town on Saturday, with Happening News SA reporting that she claimed her seventh title in 03:27:43, reports Cape {town} Etc.

The Two Oceans Marathon website had set the tone before the start, saying Steyn was ‘poised to chase a historic seventh consecutive title’ and describing the battle for the Mother City crown as ‘truly extraordinary’. The race once again underlined Steyn’s place at the centre of South Africa’s road-running conversation.

Race organisers had already made their admiration clear. In the official preview, chairperson Chris Goldschmidt said: ‘Gerda Steyn has become synonymous with excellence’. General manager Wade Bromfield added that her impact had been ‘nothing short of phenomenal’.

Steyn also framed the challenge in plain terms, saying: ‘I always remind myself not to get too comfortable; every year is different, and past performances don’t guarantee future results.’ Those words now read like a fitting prelude to another polished performance on the 56km course.
Official Two Oceans Marathon social posts later listed Steyn as the top woman in the women’s ultra, reinforcing the scale of her latest result.
For Cape Town runners and fans, the outcome added another memorable line to a race that the organisers continue to call ‘the world’s most beautiful marathon’.
