Tasneem Solomons, from Bonteheuwel in the Western Cape, has made history by becoming the first South African to ever win the Women’s Singles World Master Championship.

The prestigious event took place a few weeks ago at the Grand Hotel in Blackpool, from 18 – 27 June.
Solomons, who has been playing pool for the past 20 years, credits the sport with keeping her off the streets during her upbringing.
Her dedication and skill culminated in a thrilling final against Kirsty-Lee Davies from Wales.
In the decisive moments of the match, Solomons sank three balls and the critical eight ball, outplaying Davies, who had two balls and the eight ball left on the table.
‘To become the champion, I had to take out four world champions, and in the finals, it was very nail-biting,’ Solomons told IOL.
In addition to her singles victory, Solomons and her doubles partner, Naathierah Taliep, earned the runner-up spot in the Women’s Doubles category.
Solomons’ historic win has brought immense pride to the residents of Bonteheuwel and South Africans nationwide.
She now proudly holds the title of Women’s Singles World Master Champion.
