Police are looking for suspects in connection with a business robbery that resulted in the kidnapping of a storekeeper, a Pakistani national. The suspects are thought to have fled with an undisclosed sum of money and a 26-year-old man who runs the Airport Cash and Carry store at Airport Industrial with them.

According to IOL, Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said that the incident occurred on Friday at about 11.30 am at a cash-and-carry in the Birmingham Road, Airport Industrial area. The Bishop Lavis police registered cases of business robbery and kidnapping.
“According to reports, three unidentified males, armed, entered the shop and threatened the two males inside,” said Captain van Wyk.
He continued, “They took an undisclosed amount of cash and took the one male, a 26-year-old, with them when they fled the scene in a Toyota Corolla in an unknown direction.”
Captain van Wyk reported that no shots were fired. The case has been transferred to the provincial organised crime unit.
United Public Safety Front Regional Coordinator Imraahn Mukaddam said the latest kidnapping incident was concerning,
“We take this very seriously and hope the victim returns home safely.”
The shop was closed when the Weekend Argus arrived on Saturday, with relatives of the kidnapped man refusing to speak to the media.
Knysna police rescued a Malawian national a day after he had been kidnapped for ransom and arrested four suspects after discovering drugs and money at their hideout last month.
