Today is the last day for you to make your submissions on the proposed water levy. Since the proposal by Patricia De Lille last year, residents have been fuming as many feel they are being punished for saving water. If the water levy is enforced, households will pay between R45 and R60 every month on their bill. It is proposed that a residence with the value of R800 000 could pay a drought charge of R45 and property valued to R1-million will be charged R60.

The water woes of the City continues to deepen weekly. Dam levels are currently still sitting at 31%. This weekend Cape Town experienced some rain which could make a slight difference in the dam levels. The City’s water augmentation plans are still sitting at 50% completion.

On January 1 the City implemented level 6 water restrictions as a attempt to avoid day zero. The City has urged residents to familiarise themselves with level 6 water restrictions.
