Two men were shot dead and a woman injured in a suspected gang-related shooting in Wesbank on Christmas morning, reports Cape {town} Etc.
According to police spokesperson Captain Frederick Van Wyk, the incident occurred at around 5:40am at the corner of Wesbank Main Road and Silversands Road.
‘Circumstances surrounding a shooting event on Thursday…are under investigation,’ said Van Wyk.
He confirmed that two men, aged 22 and 35, were shot and fatally wounded during the incident. ‘Both died in hospital due to injuries sustained,’ he added. A woman also sustained a gunshot wound to her right foot and received medical treatment.
Mfuleni police have opened two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. ‘Motive is believed to be gang-related,’ said Van Wyk.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
