The event follows in the wake of Earthshot week and the ultimate goal of inspiring environmental restoration and innovation.
Although the official ‘Take a Hike Day’ is on 17 November, the greater Cape Town community has been invited to join one day earlier to enjoy the trails and aid in keeping them clean.
In this same week, Table Mountain also celebrates its 13th anniversary of being voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, which acknowledges the mountain’s natural beauty as well as local conservation efforts.
The event is set to begin at 7am at the foot of the Platteklip Gorge Trail.
As a show of appreciation, participants will receive a complimentary cable car ride back down the mountain as well as a snack pack.
‘We believe in doing the right thing for our planet, and this event embodies our commitment to conservation. It’s a simple yet impactful way to safeguard this remarkable natural wonder, one step at a time’ said Selma Hercules, executive director of TMACC.
”Take a Hike Day’ has grown into a cherished annual event, bringing people together to champion conservation while connecting with the natural beauty of Table Mountain.
