A lithium battery fire grounded the cableway last Thursday, leaving around 400 people stranded on the mountain for hours.
TMACC has confirmed that all of the outlets, retail and food and beverage, will be open less than a week after the incident occurred.
‘Safety experts have worked over the weekend to investigate the fire that broke out in the parking garage structure of the Lower Station on Thursday,’ says Managing Director of TMACC, Wahida Parker.
‘We can confirm that the flames and the heat did not reach the machinery operating the movement of our cable cars and we can now safely resume operations.’
Ticket holders can use their tickets within a set period or request a refund, while October birthdays can redeem free tickets in November.
‘We thank the public for their support and understanding. We again thank the many agencies and partners who helped on Thursday to bring the fire under control and to safely bring all 400 visitors down from the mountain,’ says Parker.
TMACC said that after the fire on Thursday, experts and assessors spent much of the day investigating fire damage to the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway’s parking garage and administration building.
Structural engineers confirmed the heat failed to reach cable car machinery, but operations were halted as a precaution.
