An investigation is underway after the body of a man from Table View was discovered inside the boot of his girlfriend’s car on Thursday, May 7.

A loud scream was heard along Blaauwberg Road at roughly 8pm on Thursday night last week when a woman discovered the body of her own boyfriend in the boot of her VW Polo.

The man had reportedly dropped his girlfriend off at work in Montague Gardens earlier that day but did not fetch her as planned that evening.

She tried to reach him when he was supposed to pick he up at 4pm but decided to get a lift home with a friend after numerous failed attempts.

After coming home, she called her tracking company who informed her where her vehicle was. She arrived with the spare key to open the car and that was when she discovered his body.

According to a source speaking to the Daily Voice, the man’s feet were tied with cable ties and his head was covered with a bag.

Nothing had been stolen, not the car keys or any valuables on the man’s person.

“A death inquest case has been opened for investigation after a body of a 28-year-old man was found inside the boot of his vehicle at 8pm on Thursday night on Blaauwberg Road. The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation, a post-mortem will be conducted to determine cause of death,” police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana told the Daily Voice.

Many are confused by the incident and police are hoping the post mortem will reveal more information.
