Two Table View police officers have been arrested for allegedly selling commissioned blank affidavit forms to members of the public for R100 each.
The accused, a 41-year-old sergeant and a 31-year-old constable, now face charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
According to Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut, the scheme came to light late last year when investigators stumbled upon a signed, commissioned statement inside a vehicle at a Table View crime scene.

That discovery sparked an Anti-Corruption Unit probe, which eventually gathered enough evidence for the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court to issue arrest warrants, as reported by Smile FM.
The officers were taken into custody at the Table View police station on Tuesday night.
Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General (Adv) TE Patekile minced no words, saying, ‘Every effort will be made to remove any police officer found on the wrong side of the law from the Service, corruption within our ranks will not be tolerated.’
The duo is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
