A 54-year-old Stellenbosch teacher was tragically killed in broad daylight near the main gate of a Kayamandi Primary School on Friday afternoon, leaving the community in shock, Cape {town} Etc reports.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that the shooting occurred on Winnie Mandela Drive at approximately 1:10pm. ‘Stellenbosch police registered a murder case for investigation following a shooting incident on Friday afternoon at a primary school where man was shot and fatally wounded,’ he said.
Authorities said the victim was found with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
‘Police members attended to the crime scene where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his body,’ Twigg added.
At this stage, the motive behind the attack remains unknown.
‘The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation and no arrests have been made yet,’ Twigg said.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to come forward.
