A grade-12 learner from Gauteng decided to take his mother to his matric dance. Ash Ndlovu took to Facebook, explaining that his mother was never able to go to her own matric farewell as she had had her son.

Ash attended Eden Park Secondary School and told Cape Town Etc that he knew he wanted to take her when he heard that she was not able to attend her own. “She is a single mom, by the way,” he added.

When he asked her to be his partner, she screamed, he said laughingly. “She was very nervous to go, because she thought she would look old,” he added. But his friends pointed out that this was not the case at all. “They said she looked different, but pretty,” he said.

The public has since showered him with praises, especially since teenagers are generally notorious for not wanting to be seen with their parents at that age!

“Ash. You are an inspiration. Your Mother raised a gentleman and a scholar. Mother you have my respect,” one person commented. Ash added that he is really grateful for his mother’s sacrifices, and so wanted to give her the experience she never had.

Wearing matching emerald green outfits, the stylish pair was a sight to behold.

When asked what the highlight of the evening was, Ash promptly declared that it was dancing with her.
