The City of Cape Town has confirmed that it will be performing ongoing routine maintenance on electrical infrastructure throughout the metro this coming week.
“Please note, some news channels are constantly implying this work leaves whole areas without power for a week. This is not true. This is normal critical maintenance to ensure reliable supply and happens across the metro in phases, for some hours at a time, depending on the maintenance work,” the City of Cape Town added in its statement.
The planned routine electrical maintenance will occur from 23 May – 29 May:

Residents are encouraged to double-check the COCT’s social media platforms to ensure they are up-to-date with the scheduled electrical maintenance.
“Please note: The City does not carry out maintenance from Stage 3 and above of load-shedding. Routine maintenance work is cancelled in the event of higher stages of load-shedding being implemented.”
