In a distressing escalation of violence that has rattled the southern suburbs of Cape Town, three separate shooting incidents on Tuesday night claimed the lives of three individuals and left four others seriously injured, reports Cape {town} Etc.
At approximately 19:15 on Tuesday evening, 8 April 2025, SAPS officers responded to reports of gunfire on the corner of Main and Military Roads in Kirstenhof. Upon their arrival, they discovered multiple victims with gunshot wounds.
Medical personnel pronounced a 38-year-old male dead at the scene, while three additional victims were transported to local medical facilities for urgent treatment.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that detectives from Kirstenhof are now investigating cases of murder and attempted murder related to this incident.
‘The motive for the attack is yet to be established. The suspects fled the scene and remain at large,’ Twigg stated.
The violence did not stop there. In a separate incident later that night, Muizenberg police made a grim discovery in a residence on Apple Street, Capricorn, where the bodies of two women were found, both exhibiting gunshot wounds. Authorities are treating this horrifying event as a double murder.
‘With the identities of the victims still unconfirmed, investigators are delving into the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
‘Detectives from Muizenberg have opened two counts of murder related to this case, as the silence around motive and suspects heightens the tension in an already tearful community.
‘A public appeal is hereby made to anyone with information to please call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or alternatively use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously,’ Twigg urged.
Further adding to the troubling narrative of the night, Steenberg detectives are probing an attempted murder case following an unrelated shooting incident on Prince George’s Drive.
‘A 42-year-old taxi driver was reported to be seriously injured after an unknown assailant approached his vehicle at a traffic light and shot him in the abdomen.’
‘He has been rushed to a medical facility for treatment, and the suspect remains elusive,’ Twigg added.
