Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl from a residence at JCC Camp in Da Gamaskop, Mossel Bay, on Christmas Eve, Cape {town} Etc reports.
A joint operation between Garden Route and Overberg District police members in collaboration with Western Cape Provincial Traffic and various role-players in the Sothern Cape safety structures ensured that three suspects were heading to court on kidnapping charges and the 16-year-old victim reunited with her family.
On Tuesday, 24 December 2024, around 11pm, police acted on information about a 16-year-old girl allegedly abducted from a residence at JCC Camp, Mossel Bay.
A white Isuzu LDV, heading to Cape Town was flagged on various platforms.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies said the Overberg Flying Squad, Task Team, and Caledon police traced the vehicle with four occupants along the N2 at Caledon on Wednesday, 25 December 2024.
‘They arrested three men and secured the safety of the victim who was later reunited with her family.’
‘Mossel Bay Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is investigating a kidnapping case,’ said Spies.
The suspects aged 30, 38, and 48 remain in police custody.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 27 December 2024.
Western Cape police management applauded the cooperation of all involved in ensuring the victim’s safety and the suspects’ arrest.
