Update, 10:30am:
A case of culpable homicide has been opened following last night’s truck accident on the N1 near Touws River.
The accident involving three trucks happened outside Touws River in the direction of De Doorns.
SAPS provincial spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed that three people had died in the incident.
‘Upon SAPS arrival on the scene the trucks were already burning,’ Van Wyk said. ‘One of the victims managed to jumped out of a burning truck unharmed and three others burned in the other two trucks.’
‘A culpable homicide case was opened for investigation.’
The road is open for traffic.
Authorities have their hands full following an accident involving three trucks on the N1 at Touws River on Wednesday evening.

While police had not responded to queries at the time of publication, it is believed that emergency services remained on the scene overnight, where two trucks were burning.

There have also been unconfirmed reports of three casualties.
The N1 in the area remains closed to all traffic and is only expected to open later today, according to SANRAL.
