Breaking news: A privately owned female tiger is on the prowl south of Johannesburg. This has been confirmed by the Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark SPCA officials.

Search parties are currently active in the area, according to the SPCA. The wild cat is suspected of having escaped its enclosure last night.
According to News24, police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello said the search for the tiger began this afternoon, 15 January 2022, after the tigress’ attack on a 39-year-old man walking his dog in the Walkerville area.
The dog was killed on the spot. Residents in the area are urged to be on high alert and advised to stay clear of the aggressive tiger.
