In an attempt to improve user safety and well-being, TikTok has released its 2024 Quarter 2 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report.
The report provided transparency regarding content and accounts that were removed from the platform, revealing that over 614 000 videos from SA-based accounts had been removed from the platform, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The 614 000 removed videos account for only 0.6% of the total videos uploaded in South Africa.
Of the banned videos, 98.7% were removed before users of the platform reported the content or account, and 88.4% of the videos that did not meet the community guideline requirements were removed within 24 hours.
In addition, the report revealed that 143 998 accounts had been completely banned for violating the community guidelines.
In June alone, 178 million videos were removed across the globe, and 144 million of these videos were automatically taken down.
‘Our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy. We prioritize safety, well-being and integrity so that our community can feel free to create, make connections, and be entertained,’ stated the group.
