Time Out constructed a list of the 38 coolest neighbourhoods in the world.
One of the Mother City’s rising gems, competed against areas such as Inchicore in Ireland and East Hollywood in the USA, to take its spot in the Top 20, Cape {town} Etc reports.

‘These are the places to visit, like, now’ commented Time Out in reference to the listed neighbourhoods.
Cool neighbourhoods were defined to be ‘places that reflect the very best of their cities’ with factors like culture, community spirit, nightlife, food, drinks and walkability coming into play.
Though the number one spot was taken by Notre-Dame-du-Mont located in Marseille, France, Cape Town managed to rank in the Top 20.
Time Out’s Cape Town neighbourhood of choice was East City, which stood firm at number 19 on the list.
The area was described as having transformed from a once neglected corner into a colourful and eclectic hub for culture, food and design.
With a long-standing and pride-filled history, the area houses the District Six Museum, the Belly of the Beast restaurant and Downtown Ramen.
The Lebanese Bakery, The Book Lounge, Rapt and New York Bagels have also become renowned in the area and are definitely visit-worthy.
