Omar became a welcome sight at Steenberg Village, a shopping centre located on Reddam Avenue in the leafy suburb, where he would carefully guard the cars of shoppers as they ran their errands. He made many connections with the shoppers in his time at the centre, and many are now beaming with pride when they think of him.

The former car guard worked hard, and all the time wished to have exactly what he was looking after – a beautiful vehicle of his own. He saved up all his tips, and made this dream become a reality.

One day, regular shoppers began realising Omar was no longer  guarding their cars, and this was because he had finally saved up enough to purchase his own. After purchasing his first car, he took up a job as an Uber driver, and is now making more money than he had previously.

“Below is a pic of friendly Omar that some of you might recognize, he was the car guard at the Woolies side of Reddam/Steenberg Village. Omar worked rainy and sunshine days with a smile on his face. He saved all the tips to buy a beautiful car and is now an Uber Driver. My heart is overjoyed by what he has managed to achieve and I wish him all of the best in his new venture,” Steenberg Village regular Nazley Du Plooy wrote on Facebook.
